WORLD AIDS DAY 2010
The Five Towns Community Center AIDS Service Program hosted a World AIDS Day event on De. 1, 2010. Local agencies attended the event and provided resource tables which included program descriptions, giveaways, Flu shots and HIV Antibody Testing. The attending agencies included: Forest View Adult Day Care Center, Options for Community Living, Planned Parenthood of Nassau County, LIMAC Counseling and testing. Glen Cohen from Abbott Laboratories provided fruit, vegetables and salads. Additional intra-agency departments which participated were: Head Start, AID to the Foreign Born, Youth Services and Lawrence High School GED Program. The World AIDS program was extremely successful, despite severe weather conditions. The program included the history of World AIDS day, current global facts and statistics, poetry readings, a memorial, personal testimony of HIV positive individual, song and various displays of expressive art work.
