LAWRENCE DISTRICT EMPLOYEES FACE LAY OFFS
Up to 21 Lawrence School District employee's claim to be given notice that they may be laid off in the early part of 2011. This is believed to be due to a financial crisis facing the district. These positions were to funded by the 94.1 million budget passed last year. It is unclear why and to what extent the district is in a fiscal crisis. Requests for an explanation from the school administration have gone unanswered. The next school board meeting is February 2011.
