On June 24th Inwood's Own Daniel Vacchio will have his Commissioning Ceremony where he will be sworn into the United States Marine Corps as 2nd Lieutenant. After sacrificing two summers, and forfeiting his time on the beaches in Atlantic Beach, Daniel chose rather to spend them in muddy swamps, bug infested forest-like trees and barracks to undergo what was grueling but self rewarding discipline and leadership training. His time at the Officer Candidate School in Quantico, VA. has taught him what no books can teach. Even with his bachelor degree from John Jay College and job offers on the table Daniel feels his training, knowledge and more importantly his pride temporarily outweigh and he has chosen to serve his country.
