Inwood 5K!!!!

The Inwood 5K Run was started in 1993 by Co-Directors Pete Sobol and Mike DeRosa. Since then the event has been held 17 times and has profited close to $80,000. Proceeds from the race are awarded each year to local high school seniors for their continuing educational needs. Many local merchants and organizations sponsor the event with gifts or monetary donations. Our sponsor chairman, Frank Sarro, has worked tirelessly to secure these sponsors. In 2008, St. Johns' Episcopal Hospital became our Finish Line Sponsor, which now allows us the luxury of using the latest state of the art timing system for our race results. Capital One Bank has also served as our Trophy Sponsor, awarding 90 trophies to all of our different age group winners, male and female. Race day employs the volunteer services of 75-100 area citizens who belong to one or more of the 12 organizations that form our Race Committee. This committee and the volunteers they provide, are crucial to the logistical and security needs of holding an event of this magnitude.
