Family, friends and members of the Nassau County Police force came out in numbers last Sunday morning to view the unveiling of a memorial dedicated to the life and memory of Police Officer Scott Rankin. The memorial consisted of a large rock in the middle of a rock garden that displayed a plaque with Scott's shield. Two park benches that could overlook part of Wantagh Bay. Also on display was the peoples car 408. Scott spent many hours in 408 protecting our community. Thank you Scott for caring about Inwood, you were truly a big part of our community. To us you were the ideal policeman. Thank you Nassau County Police and particularly the fourth precinct for taking the time to honor Scott. Your actions speak not only to Scott and his legacy but also speaks to character of all men and women of the fourth precinct. We are happy to have you on our streets while we keep Scott in our hearts.

WAY BEFORE SANDY!

What our Boat Yard looked like during high tide in 1963. Know then as The Huter Boat Club. Thank you for sharing Ginny Kiernan!

CALENDAR 2013

Unfortunately, we will not be able to publish a hard copy, print version this year. Due to low sponsorship, many families being displaced and time not working on our side we will be unable to get this project together. We however, will be updating the online calendar as we have done in the past. Therefore, we are asking all organizations to continue to send in their events, meetings and any other "happenings" they wish to have posted. We also would like our news section to be more informative this year so anyone with information/stories before or after they happen please feel free to send them in. All of this information can be sent to insideinwood@gmail.com For our friends and neighbors still working through the recovery process we wish you the best and hope you get home or your home back soon! We will be posting some photos we did receive for the calendar regarding the storm so if you have any you would like to share feel free to email those over. Happy New Year & Best Wishes for 2013!

JOEY DOWLING FUNDRAISER

A fundraiser was held in memory of Joey Dowling. Many friends and family turned out to The Den on Sheridan Blvd. to support the event. Mark Magliaro's Band - One Pint Down entertained the crowd. Over $4000.00 was raised at this first fundraiser which the family plans to provide scholarships with. A great time was had by all and great memories of Joey were shared throughout the evening.
